We are delighted to announce that we have secured all the grant funding that we need to progress with our project to install 60 solar panels on the Memorial Hall roof with storage batteries inside. The installation is being completed by Greenscape and will start on August 5th, with scaffold going up the week before. The hall will be closed for one week during the works.
This is a very exciting project for the hall. It brings the prospect of generating green electricity and substantially reducing our electricity bill by using the batteries and exporting surplus energy to the national grid. The aim is to achieve 'operational net zero carbon' for the hall.
We would like to thank the many residents who expressed their overwhelming support for this project in our survey last year - that work was vital and fed into our various grant applications.
We were successful in securing the following grants:
Cambridgeshire Priorities Capital Fund - £25,000
Wadlow Wind Farm Community Fund - £10,000
Great Wilbraham Parish Council - £2,000
The Drapers' Company - £1,000
Ridge Clean Energy (who are developing Six Oaks Solar Farm adjacent to our parishes) have donated £5,000 to our solar project and have been supportive throughout the project development.
The project has been delivered by Trustees and Committee Members: Emma Adams (grant applications); Paul Lambton (procurement and tenchnical); Richard Morley (financial). We were also assisted by Hilary Burton of Great Wilbraham Parish Council.
